Veteran Volunteers (April 03, 2006)
As reported in the Nottingham Evening Post
Late last year, one of the happier events that gained publicity for the Museum was a joint birthday party for two of our volunteers, Margaret Bingley and John Rogers. Nothing remarkable about a birthday party, but friends John and Margaret, two of our longest-serving volunteers were both celebrating their 90th year, so a special celebration was in order. In great secrecy, a cake was baked and iced "RFKM volunteers at 90 John & Margaret", the press were invited, and staff, trustees, volunteers and friends of the Museum assembled to share the afternoon with them. Typically John reminded a reporter that the party did not mark the end of anything, and Margaret added that she had already booked the Museum's Chapel Hall for her 91st in October this year.
